Best Morning Lemon Sugar Scrub

Have you tried this? I have, and now I’m obsessed (along with the red clay mask). Lemon sugar scrub is so dope for the mornings. For anytime really, but to start off fresh in the A.M. is best. During my DIY beauty experience, I’ve surprisingly have been satisfied with the results and I’m always happy to share the recipes I like the most. So let’s get to these lemons.

Why lemons?

Lemon is a natural source of Vitamin C, which means lemons can fade skin discoloration and helps aging spots. It’s a natural astringent that tightens and brighten the skin.

Sugar is a recurring ingredients used in my DIY beauty recipes and it’s great for exfoliation to wipe away dead skin.

Coconut oil is most people’s favorite because we know that it’s great for mind, body, and soul. Just kidding. Coconut oil is a Vitamin E which moisturizes, soothes, and protects from UV rays if left on.

I have two ways to produce a lemon sugar scrub. The first one only requires two ingredients– lemon and sugar. This is a one-time use applying half a lemon dipped in sugar directly to your skin and circulate. That’s the quick easy way. The second way is to store the lemon sugar scrub in a container for multiple uses and is also good for a body scrub. Now let’s take a look at how to do this.

Lemon Sugar Scrub #1

  1.  Cut a lemon in half.
  2.  Dip lemon in sugar.
  3.  Apply lemon half directly to face and scrub in a circular motion for 1-2 minutes.
  4.  Rinse face thoroughly with water.
  5.  Tone face and moisturize.

Lemon Sugar Scrub #2

I made a video for this one and let me tell you, creating and editing videos are exhausting and I did not want to do but did it anyway, haha. I figure I’d mix it up and show something in action. It turned out cute but I was lazy about it and kept it simple. 

These  measurements are a rough estimate as you will adjust as you go along depending on the consistency.

What you’ll need:

  • Lemon juice
  • Sugar (brown or white)
  • Coconut oil
  • Small bowl and spoon
  • Container w/ lid for storing. 

For this demonstration, I used about 5 Tbsp of lemon juice, 1 Tbsp of coconut oil and enough sugar to thicken the lemon juice. Depending on how much you want to store, you can keep adjusting. See the video for my fun process 🙂
